Forget About The Word “Lucky”

Forget about the word “lucky”.
Have you watched those terrible consequences of the earthquake in Haiti on TV? To say honestly exactly at that time I thought about that horrible tsunami in Sri Lanka. Unpleasant thoughts about scaring hurricane Katrina in New Orleans also visited me at that moment. But the essence of those thoughts of mine was rooted in the fact that I always stumbled on mentioning such a curious word as “lucky” in stories told by survivors of that terrible disaster. By the way one missionary rescued during this disaster also pronounced the word “lucky”. Perhaps he had the right for this word having spent for eight scaring hours in a building which was almost entirely collapsed. By the way I hope you’ve heard that Haiti is considered to be the poorest country among those ones located in the West. You can compare it with the Great Depression in the USA when thank God we had no natural disasters.

As for me I was greatly shocked to hear that from the missionary taking into consideration the fact that a great number of human lives disappeared as the result of this disaster. I was completely dissatisfied with his ignoring God’s role in this case. He even didn’t praise our great creator for saving him and others who managed to survive. And I should emphasize in this case that I can understand those people who don’t share Christian belief. But when I hear “lucky” pronounced by a Christian then I can’t understand the motivation of such people. As for me I haven’t found any place in the Bible mentioning the word “lucky”. Why on Earth do Christians use this word to describe God’s actions? We should know that all good things are received by us from God. So they aren’t lucky at all if you consider them a little deeper.

Summarizing the value of all mentioned above I’d like to ask everybody to exclude the word “lucky” from our daily vocabulary because it’s not a good idea to use this word when being a true Christian. From my point pf view we should develop a so called resolution on this matter and sign it at least virtually on the net to confirm our individual consent regarding this. I think that it would be a good idea to make a corresponding website to unite all Christian “enemies” of the word “lucky”. We should encourage people to give up using this word. We should thank God for all mercies given to us including all episodes of our unpredictable survivals no matter what time it might happen to us at. There aren’t any occasional “lucky” things in the universe. Everything is governed by God and we shouldn’t forget about it. It seems to me you’ve understood me properly.
